You said, we did - Road Safety |

Hello Resident, In our recent public priorities survey, you highlighted Road Safety as one of the key concerns in your area. I’ve been working hard to address these issues, and I wanted to share a positive outcome from yesterday’s patrol. While in the vicinity of Kimberley Way, I observed a vehicle travelling unusually slowly. When it was safe to do so, I stopped the vehicle and carried out the necessary checks. It became clear that the driver held only an international licence, which had expired due to the length of time he had been in the UK. He also stated that he had a UK provisional licence, but he was driving without supervision, which is a legal requirement. As a result, he was reported for road traffic offences and issued with a ticket. He will now be required to attend court, where if found guilty he could face: This offence may also impact his insurance. Driving “otherwise than in accordance with a licence” is an offence under Section 87 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and applies when a driver does not meet the conditions of the licence they hold. I will continue to work proactively to keep our community safe and to address the concerns you have raised. If you wish to report any road safety issues, please contact us on 101 or use our online reporting service.
